Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka visited the sacred Tirupati Tirumala temple along with his family on Thursday. The visit came just before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season resumed after a one-week break. The temple, located in Andhra Pradesh, is one of the most visited religious sites in India and is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Sanjiv Goenka, the chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, took time off his busy IPL schedule to seek divine blessings. His visit holds spiritual and emotional value, especially as LSG prepares for a decisive stage of the tournament. His family also joined him in offering prayers at the temple.
This visit comes at a crucial time for the team, as IPL 2025 moves into its final weeks. The league was briefly suspended due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, and the break allowed teams and players to regroup.
Just before the tournament resumed, LSG suffered a setback. Young pacer Mayank Yadav was ruled out of the rest of the season due to a back injury. The 22-year-old fast bowler had impressed everyone with his pace and energy earlier in the tournament.
The IPL released an official statement confirming the development. “Mayank Yadav sustained a back injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the season,” the statement said.
To fill the gap, LSG signed New Zealand pacer William O’Rourke as a replacement. He joins the squad at a base price of ₹3 crore. O’Rourke has played five T20Is for New Zealand and taken five wickets. In 38 domestic T20s, he has picked up 37 wickets.
As the IPL returns to action, LSG hopes for a strong comeback. The team sits in contention for the playoffs and will look to stay focused despite recent challenges. Goenka’s temple visit reflects hope, belief, and the desire for a winning end to the campaign.
