LSG Bowler Replicates Suspended Rathi’s Celebration After Taking Down Buttler

Lucknow Super Giants pacer Akash Singh copied teammate Digvesh Rathi’s signature notebook celebration after dismissing Jos Buttler. He signalled toward the dressing room and signed the notebook, almost as a tribute to Digvesh Rathi.

Lucknow Super Giants defeated Gujarat Titans by 33 runs on Thursday at Narendra Modi Stadium. Lucknow put up a big score of 235 and stopped GT at 202 to win the 64th fixture of the league.

Akash’s Special Celebration

Akash Singh outfoxed Jos Buttler and dismissed him for 33 off 18 balls. After dismissing him, Akash drew attention to himself with his special celebration. He imitated Rathi’s signature celebration, which got the latter suspended from the fixture.

Following Buttler’s wicket, Akash immediately turned towards the LSG dugout and signed off the notebook.

Rathi’s Suspension

Digvesh Rathi got a match suspension for three on-field breaches. Besides that, he was also fined 50% of his match fees. As per the IPL rules, four demerit points lead to one suspension point, which means a one match suspension. He had 5 demerit points in his account.

Earlier in the season, 3 demerit points were added to his account for the same notebook gesture. 2 more points were added to his name after his heated face-off with Abhishek Sharma.

LSG in the Points Table

Lucknow Super Giants sit at the 7th spot in the IPL 2024 points table, with 6 wins from 13 matches. The Rishabh Pant-led side is already out of the tournament.

They have the same points as Kolkata Knight Riders, despite having one more win than them. If LSG win another match, they can finish at the 5th position in the IPL 2025 season. LSG will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last league game on May 27.
