JioHostar has reportedly secured the exclusive digital streaming rights for India’s upcoming England tour. As per a Cricbuzz report, the deal was finalised with Sony Entertainment Network, or Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited. Sony holds the primary rights to English cricket. The five-match test series in England will commence on June 20 and will be available to steam on JioHotstar.
Reportedly, a deal has been finalised in the last 24 hours, after a month of negotiations between the two networks. As part of the deal, Sony has agreed to sub-license the digital streaming rights to JioHotstar. However, the television broadcast rights will remain with Sony only. This means that matches will continue to air on the Sony Sports Network for TV viewers.
No official statement from either party has been obtained, but an announcement is expected on Monday. It was learnt that this arrangement between Sony and Jio extends to next year’s white ball series as well. India will play three ODIs and five T20Is in England in 2026. Jio will broadcast these games as well.
Ahead of the five-match test series, India A will face England Lions in two four-day matches from May 30. An intra-squad match will also take place between India A and the senior team.
As for the official series from June 20, the BCCI announced the 18-member squad on May 24. Shubman Gill was appointed as the new Test captain with Rishabh Pant as his deputy.
The five tests to be played in England will be in:
Leeds (June 20)
Birmingham (July 2)
Lord’s (July 10)
Manchester (July 23)
Oval (July 31)
