India vs Pakistan Asia Cup Super 4: What will the Umpires do if the rain does not stop? 

The highly anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 was marred by rain for the second time, leaving cricket enthusiasts on the edge of their seats. As the cricketing world eagerly awaited a thrilling showdown, heavy rainfall in Colombo suspended the match after Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the 18th over, Shaheen Afridi sent Gill back to the pavilion, giving India twin scares in consecutive overs. 

Momentum Disrupted by Rain 

The momentum of the game was disrupted when KL Rahul and Virat Kohli took charge of the crease. KL Rahul was at 17, and Kohli at 8 when rain intervened, forcing the pitch to be covered. The unpredictable weather had once again cast a shadow over a much-anticipated cricket spectacle. 

As a crucial match in the tournament, the primary focus is on concluding the game on the same day. Both teams have exhibited unwavering dedication, making it essential to reach a result. If the rain subsides, India will continue their innings from where they left off. However, if the umpires halt India’s innings right there, Pakistan will be required to play a minimum of 20 overs today to determine a winner. In these 20 overs, Pakistan would need to chase down 181 runs for victory. However, if these conditions are not met, the ICC has the option to schedule the match for a reserve day. 

Reserve Day Rules

In the event that persistent heavy rain prevents the match from continuing today or if 20 overs of Pakistan’s batting prove unfeasible, the reserve day will be activated. On the reserve day, the match will resume from where we left off today. 

This clash holds immense significance for both teams as it could influence the top two spots in the tournament. With each side determined to emerge victorious, cricket fans across the globe are fervently hoping for the rain to relent. However, if the weather refuses to cooperate, everyone will have to wait for the reserve day to determine the outcome of this high-stakes encounter.
