Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni has won hearts with his heartwarming gesture for KKR’s Chetan Sakariya after CSK registered their third win of the season.
MS Dhoni has won praise on social media for his heartening act towards KKR’s Chetan Sakariya. This touching act went viral following Chennai Super Kings’ narrow two-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
After winning the match with his trademark six, Dhoni stayed on the field for the customary post-match handshakes. He exchanged pleasantries with the KKR players, but when he was leaving for the dugout, he suddenly stopped.
Dhoni realised that he had forgotten to greet one player. He turned back and made his way to Sakariya. When he found Sakariya, Dhoni reached out and shook his hand firmly. He also patted the KKR player on his back with a smile on his face. Sakariya, although caught off guard, smilingly returned the gesture.
This moment was caught by the camera and went viral on social media, bringing praise for the former Indian captain’s humility and kindness.
Chennai ended their losing streak by registering their third win of the season. KKR batted first and put up a score of 179/6. Noor Ahmad bagged a four-wicket haul for CSK. For KKR, Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer with 48 off 33. Manish Pandey (36) and Andre Russell (38) helped the team get to a decent total.
CSK’s top order could not deliver as openers Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway were dismissed for a duck. Urvil Patel slammed 31 off 11, however, CSK got backed up at 60/6 after his wicket. Dewald Brevis got them back in the game with his blazing 52 off 25, while Shivam Dube also made a significant contribution of 45. CSK needed 8 runs in the final over, and MS Dhoni hit a six on the first ball, ending KKR’s hopes of winning.
