India A Squad for England Tour Set to be Announced; Easwaran and Sudharsan Lead Contenders

Sudharsan, Easwaran, Kamboj, and Patidar are among the players likely to play for India A in the England tour in June . As BCCI is preparing for the resumption of IPL 2025, it is also working on India’s international cricket assessment quietly. Before the five-match test series, India A will face England Lions, which will prepare players for the senior team.

According to a Cricbuzz report, a gathering took place in the Cricket Centre in Mumbai on May 6, a day before Rohit Sharma announced his retirement. The selectors may have picked the India A squad that day.

Official Announcement Expected on May 13

The final squad of India A to play against England Lions will most likely be announced on May 13. They are scheduled to play three games – two versus England Lions (May 30-June 2 and June 6-9) and one against the senior India squad (June 13-16).

Abhimanyu Easwaran is the prime candidate for captaincy of the India A squad. The selection of the new test captain, after Rohit’s retirement, is expected to take place on May 23.

Selecting the squad has not been easy for the selectors with the suspension of the IPL. The BCCI has asked the selectors to select players who are not part of the IPL 2025 or those from teams that are likely to miss the playoffs for the first match of the tour.

Players Expected in India A Squad

The 29-year-old opening batter, Abhimanyu Easwaran, will most likely lead India A against England Lions. Sai Sudharsan, Anshul Kamboj, and Rajat Patidar are likely to play for India A.
Tanush Kotian, Baba Indrajith, Akash Deep, and Karun Nair are among other stars who are under the BCCI’s watch for the tour.

Dhruv Jurel and Nitish kumar Reddy are also expected to be picked for the India A squad, but would later be added to the senior side.
