Gautam Gambhir has opened up about his bond with former Indian captain Virat Kohli. He said that things happen when two players represent different teams.

Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has set the record straight regarding his relationship with the RCB cricketer Virat Kohli. The two have been known for altercations on the field in the past. However, since Gambhir joined the Indian Cricket Team, the two have enjoyed working together.

Gambhir and Kohli’s Altercation

The rumours of a bitter relationship spiked after their argument during a match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 2023 IPL season.

Virat had a heated dispute with LSG’s Naveen-ul-Haq during the customary handshake after the match. Gambhir got involved and got caught up in an argument with Virat to the extent that KL Rahul, then captain of LSG, had to come and separate the two.

Gambhir addressed this incident, saying that these things happen when two people represent different teams.

“When you represent, two different teams, you have full right to fight for your team but after off the field, what kind of relationship you share, people don’t need to know nor will they ever know and because people have, for their TRP, said a lot of different things,” he added.

Gambhir: “We will always remain friends”

Slamming the journalists, Gambhir said that no one needs to know Virat and his relationship.

“It is still not important, for anyone in this country, to know what relationship do I share with Virat Kohli and I have said it very clearly, that we were, we are, we will always remain friends and more importantly, I think we should love what he has done for Indian cricket,” he said.

He also humorously said that he’ll ask BCCI to stop posting about them and stated that, “It’s just two Delhi boys having fun. If that’s a problem, I’ll tell the BCCI to stop posting about it.”
