Young cricketers like Musheer Khan, Ayush Mhatre, Suryansh Shedge, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were among the big buys in the initial round of auction for the T20 Mumbai League.
The third edition of the T20 Mumbai League will take place from May 26 to June 8, featuring 8 teams. One of the major highlights of the auction was the fierce competition for Mumbai’s stars. Atharva Ankolekar emerged as the most expensive buy, snapped up by Eagle Thane Strikers for Rs. 16.25 lakh.
20-year-old Musheer Khan, who is part of the Punjab Kings squad, was picked by ARCS Andheri for Rs. 15 lakh. Sairaj Patil also matched that price tag, joining Ankolekar at Eagle Thane Strikers.
Other big buys include Ayush Mhatre (Rs. 14.75 lakh to Triumph Knights Mumbai North East), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (Rs. 14 lakh to SoBo Mumbai Falcons), and Shams Mulani (Rs. 14 lakh to Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs).
Fans can also look forward to clashes between Mumbai’s biggest cricketing names. Star players like Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ajinkya Rahane have all been signed as icon players. They are set to play against each other in the upcoming tournament.
Having IPL and international experience, the icon players will not only add star power but also act as mentors to the next generation of cricketers and guide them. The T20 Mumbai League serves as a platform to discover domestic talent and train them.
As the tournament returns to the Wankhede, it brings with it the thrill of competitive T20 cricket and the pride of Mumbai’s cricketing legacy. All eyes will now be on May 26, when the league kicks off and the race for the 2025 title begins.
