CSK Coach Responds to Suresh Raina Coaching Rumours

Chennai Super Kings ended their disappointing IPL 2025 campaign with a dominant 83-run win over Gujarat Titans. Despite finishing at the bottom of the points table for the first time in history, the team showed promise in their final league match.

Young players stepped up for CSK. Ayush Mhatre scored 34 off 17 balls, Urvil Patel made 37 off 19, and Dewald Brevis smashed 57 off 23. CSK posted their highest total of the season—230 for 5.

Assistant bowling coach Sridharan Sriram praised the young talents. He said, “These are forced changes. There were injuries that happened, and we had to replace. Fortunately for us, the people who came in did well.” He added, “I won’t go back and dig too deep into it, saying we made mistakes at the auction table.”

Raina coaching rumours spark buzz

After the win, rumours spread that former CSK star Suresh Raina could return to the franchise as a batting coach. Raina is CSK’s highest run-scorer and has been a fan favourite for years.

During the post-match press conference, Sriram was asked about the reports. He replied, “I don’t know. I have to ask him if he said that.”

The speculation began during a discussion on-air when Aakash Chopra hinted that the new batting coach’s name could start with “S.” Raina replied, “He has made the fastest fifty,” hinting at himself. Chopra then said, “Chalo ho gaya bhai, you heard it first here.”

Coaching changes on the cards?

Michael Hussey currently serves as CSK’s batting coach. He has held the role since 2018. With the team planning a rebuild, fans believe Raina might join the coaching setup to bring fresh energy.

Though there is no confirmation yet, the buzz continues as CSK look ahead to a new chapter after a tough season.
