Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper Rishabh Pant has been fined a hefty sum of INR 30 lakh from his salary. The fine was higher than usual as it was his third offence this season.
Rishabh Pant’s form made a comeback after a disappointing season, smashing an unbeaten 118 off 61 balls. He was the driving force in helping LSG post 227 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, it was not enough, as RCB chased down the target in just 18.3 overs with 6 wickets to spare. To add to Lucknow’s woes, Pant and the team were penalized by the BCCI for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct.
The keeper-batter was fined INR 30 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate in their clash against RCB on Tuesday. The fine was higher than the usual over-rate offence of INR 12 lakh. It was the third time LSG could not maintain the required over-rate this season.
“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 70 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday,” BCCI said in a release shared on Wednesday morning.
“As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lakh.”
The rest of the LSG Playing XI members were each individually fined either INR 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.
Pant’s explosive knock of 118 off 61 balls went in vain as RCB defeated LSG by six wickets. Bengaluru chased 228 runs with 8 balls to spare, making it into the top two on the points table.
Jitesh Sharma slammed 85 off 33 deliveries and drove RCB towards their highest run chase in IPL history. This win advanced RCB to Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings.
