Rajat Patidar Leads RCB to Long-Awaited IPL Final After Nine-Year Gap

In a match that turned out to be a one-sided affair, Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered a dominant win over Punjab Kings. The Bengaluru-based franchise booked their place in the final of the Indian Premier League 2025.

Rajat Patidar had a perfect start as captain of the RCB, as they defeated PBKS by 8 wickets on Thursday. With his win, RCB has made it to the final for the first time since 2016. They finished as runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016.

RCB’s Dominant Win

Punjab Kings had the advantage of playing at home on Thursday. However, RCB was prepared as they had already defeated Punjab earlier in April. For RCB, Suyash Sharma (3/17) did the star turn by picking up three wickets, pacers Josh Hazlewood (3/21), Yash Dayal (2/26) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/17).

Punjab Kings will get another chance to make the final as they play the winner of the Eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 (to be played on June 1). Sent in to bat first, Punjab Kings were bowled out for just 101 in 14.1 overs.

Patidar Praises Team Effort

The captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar, said that they were very clear with their plans, and the fast bowlers used the conditions well, and then Suyash was superb in the middle overs as well. He added that he is clear about Suyash’s bowling, and he has to attack the stumps, and the wrong’un is very hard to pick.

Patidar also mentioned that Salt has been amazing for them throughout the season, and he himself is a big fan of him. He ended by acknowledging the support of the RCB fans and said that they have been fantastic wherever they have gone, just one more to go, and then they will celebrate together.
