Punjab Kings’ bowler Arshdeep Singh has urged fans to support RBKS vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 on May 29. PBKS are in the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

Punjab Kings ended their 11 years long wait and qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2025. PBKS will play the first playoff match at their home ground – New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur on Thursday.

Arshdeep Urges Fans

Taking advantage of the home crowd, players are asking the fans to root for PBKS and turn the momentum against RCB. Arshdeep has asked fans to come out and encourage the team with their support as they look to seal their place in the final.

A fan on Snapchat said that she was supporting the Punjab Kings from afar. Responding to her, Arshdeep said, “Thank you for supporting us. You’re not Punjabi but you’re still supporting Punjab, whereas there are a lot of people who don’t support Punjab and have different favourite teams. I would like to urge them to support Punjab, their state, their team, and come in big numbers to see us win.”

New Era for PBKS, RCB Still Strong

Punjab Kings have never been able to attract fans in masses, mainly due to a lack of success. Another reason could be their inability to hand onto their best players over the years. However, this year things have changed with the new leadership of Shreyas Iyer. PBKS might see an increase in their fan base as they have qualified for the first time in 11 years.

On the other hand, RCB has countrywide support due to the presence of star players like Virat Kohli. The team is also identified by its former stars AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. There is even a possibility that the May 29 clash in Mullanpur may see more fans of RCB.

Both teams will play aiming for their first-ever title win on Thursday. RCB and PBKS played in the final in 2016 and 2014, respectively, but failed to clinch the trophy.
