Asia Cup 2023: Team India's Complete Match Schedule

In a landmark decision, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has finalized a hybrid model for the upcoming tournament, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka jointly hosting the event. This resolution came after extensive deliberations and discussions between the participating teams’ boards, which aimed to find a compromise following a dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over Pakistan’s hosting rights.

The BCCI had made it unequivocally clear that they would not play any matches in Pakistan, while the PCB was eager to ensure that at least a portion of the event took place in their home country. The six-nation tournament, scheduled as a preparation run for the 2023 ODI World Cup, will include cricket powerhouses such as India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

The teams have been divided into two groups for the initial stage of the competition. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal, while Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Matches will be played in the 50-overs format, providing an ideal opportunity for teams to fine-tune their skills and strategies leading up to the World Cup, set to take place in India during October-November.

Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Four stage. Here, they will compete against each other to secure their spot in the highly anticipated final, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, September 17. The Super Four stage promises intense battles as teams vie for a place in the ultimate showdown.

This unique hybrid model of hosting the ACC tournament showcases the ACC’s commitment to fostering cooperation and unity among Asian cricket-playing nations. By accommodating the concerns and preferences of various boards, the ACC has ensured a fair and balanced approach to the tournament. Cricket fans worldwide eagerly await the tournament’s commencement, as it promises to be a thrilling display of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among Asian cricket nations.
