Virat Kohli, known for his exceptional fitness levels, has once again demonstrated his dedication to physical conditioning. The Indian cricket captain took to social media to share his achievement of a new Yo-Yo fitness score ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup.
Despite being 34 years old, Kohli is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to challenge himself. He proudly revealed that he had successfully completed the Yo-Yo fitness test with a score of 17.2. The test involves running between two markers, with the distance increasing over time as the frequency of beeps rises. Kohli’s score of 17.2, although not a record-breaking achievement, showcases his commitment to maintaining high fitness standards.
Kohli’s post on Instagram showed him shirtless, standing between the cones used in the test, and he captioned it with, “The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones.”
The Yo-Yo test, a fitness evaluation used by many cricket teams, is designed to measure a player’s aerobic endurance and stamina. In the test, athletes must run back and forth between markers, with the distance and speed increasing at intervals. Kohli’s score of 17.2 is well above the minimum passing standard of 16, which is required for Indian cricket team players.
Despite the current absence of a mandatory Yo-Yo test for selection, Kohli’s commitment to maintaining his fitness levels is evident. Previously, during his captaincy, the Yo-Yo test was a compulsory requirement for playing in the Indian men’s cricket team, and Kohli himself had achieved a score of 19.
As India prepares for the Asia Cup, Kohli’s dedication to maintaining peak physical condition continues to inspire and set a high standard for his teammates.
