Shane Watson Predicts RCB to Win IPL 2025, Picks Kohli as Player of the Match

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has boldly predicted that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will win IPL 2025. Watson, who played for both RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during his IPL career, believes that this is finally RCB’s year. He also expects Virat Kohli to lead the way and win the Player of the Match award in the final.

RCB are just two wins away from their maiden IPL title. The franchise has waited 18 long years for this moment. Despite having star-studded squads over the years, RCB have not been able to lift the trophy. Their closest chance came in 2016 when they reached the final, only to lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight runs.

And the Man of the Match for me is Virat Kohli, the great man,” Watson said. He believes that RCB’s performances, especially in the latter half of the season, show that the team is peaking at the right time.

Watson highlighted the return of Josh Hazlewood to the playing XI as a major boost for the team. He also pointed out RCB’s unbeaten record in away matches this season, a unique achievement in IPL history.

Kohli’s Form Could Be the Key

Virat Kohli has once again proven why he is one of the greatest in IPL history. He has scored over 600 runs this season, including eight fifties. His consistency at the top of the order has been vital for RCB’s success. Watson feels Kohli’s form, combined with the team’s momentum, makes them the favorites.

“This is the time for RCB. Everything is lining up perfectly,” Watson said. He also mentioned Kohli’s recent Test retirement and felt that it might be a turning point that pushes Kohli to achieve glory in the IPL.

Watson warned that RCB will face stiff competition in the playoffs. Teams like Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans are strong contenders.
