Styris expressed his fondness for his previous experience working on the commentary team during the previous edition of the Asia Cup in the UAE. However, he stated his uncertainty regarding his inclusion in this year’s tournament and clarified that he will not be partaking in the Asia Cup 2023 commentary panel.

“I loved working on the last Asia Cup in the UAE. But not sure how/why I’m included in the list for this year’s tournament. I won’t be there this time around,” Styris wrote in his post on X, leaving fans and fellow cricket enthusiasts intrigued about his decision to decline the invitation.

Styris’s unexpected refusal to join the commentary panel for the upcoming Asia Cup has ignited speculation and curiosity within the cricketing fraternity. While he refrained from delving into the reasons behind his decision, his announcement has generated discussions and conjectures among fans and experts alike.

ACC announced a star-studded commentary panel for Asia Cup 2023

Earlier, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had announced a star-studded lineup of commentators set to provide insightful analysis and engaging commentary throughout the continental tournament. The ACC assembled a panel of 12 esteemed commentators from five cricketing nations, adding an extra layer of excitement to the upcoming event.

The roster of commentators included iconic cricket personalities from India and Pakistan, adding to the rivalry and anticipation surrounding the Asia Cup. From India, the panel featured Gautam Gambhir, Ravi Shastri, Sanjay Manjrekar, Irfan Pathan, and Deep Dasgupta. Representing Pakistan, cricket legends Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Bazid Khan, and Rameez Raja will offer their insights. Bangladesh’s representative will be Athar Ali Khan, while Sri Lanka’s co-hosting duties will see Russell Arnold taking the microphone. Notably, Scott Styris was supposed to join as the neutral commentator.

However, with Scott Styris out, the ACC will have to look for another member to replace him as a neutral commentator. Cricket enthusiasts will undoubtedly await further developments and clarifications surrounding Styris’s decision, while the tournament’s commentary lineup, which initially included twelve prominent commentators, may undergo potential adjustments.
