New Zealand women are gearing up to face England women in a multi-format series, consisting of five T20Is and three ODIs. The series will commence with the first T20I at the University Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday, March 19.
In preparation for the series, New Zealand women have announced the inclusion of Rosemary Mair and Brooke Halliday in their squad. Mair, who last featured for the national team during the 2023 tour to Sri Lanka, has impressed the coaching staff with her performance in the domestic circuit. Halliday, on the other hand, has recovered from a foot injury that sidelined her during the limited-overs series against Pakistan.
Commenting on Mair’s inclusion, head coach Ben Sawyer praised her performance in the domestic season, highlighting her leadership and improvement in pace. He expressed satisfaction with Mair’s dedication to enhancing her game and implementing feedback provided post the Sri Lanka tour.
“Rosemary’s had a great domestic season, She’s been an integral part of the Central Hinds side this summer and has stepped up with her leadership and extra pace, which has been pleasing,” Sawyer told ESPNcricinfo.
“We identified key areas of her game to work on post the tour of Sri Lanka and we’ve been impressed with the way Rosemary has gone away and worked hard on implementing these into her game,” he added.
The addition of Mair and Halliday adds depth to the New Zealand women’s squad, providing them with a strong lineup as they prepare to take on England.
