Royal Challengers Bengaluru receives a major blow as Josh Hazlewood is unlikely to return due to his shoulder injury.
Australian fast-bowler Josh Hazlewood has reportedly sustained a shoulder injury and will most likely not return for the remaining IPL matches. He has been a leading player for RCB, proving his worth by leading their bowling attack this season with 18 wickets. However, Hazlewood missed RCB’s last match before suspension due to his injury.
According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Hazlewood picked up a shoulder injury, which kept him out of his home match against CSK. This injury came on top of his rehabilitation from a calf injury and side strain picked up during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The report also stated that Hazlewood is set to play for the World Test Championship final against South Africa. Cricket Australia is not too concerned with this injury as there will be a conditioning camp in England ahead of the WTC final.
As per reports, the Indian Premier League could be extended until May 30, five days beyond the original schedule. This has presented a challenge for overseas boards because of their upcoming international fixtures.
After the escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, the BCCI decided to suspend the IPL 2025 for a week. Following the suspension, all franchises disbanded their squads and sent them back home.
As per the previous schedule, the franchises were to release the players by May 25. However, their future in the league beyond that date will be decided according to agreements between players, franchises, and the cricket boards.
BCCI is yet to release a final plan for the remaining matches of the 2025 season. They are expected to announce the new schedule soon. There are 13 league matches left to complete, including the interrupted PBKS vs DC match.
