Khurram Shahzad, who made his international debut in the first Test against Australia in Perth, had shown promise with his performance, taking five wickets in the match. However, his participation in the remainder of the series has been cut short due to the injury he sustained during the game.

Following the conclusion of the first Test, Shahzad underwent an MRI scan, which revealed the extent of his injuries. The scan showed a fracture in his left 10th rib and an abdominal muscle tear, which will require a significant period of recovery.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that Shahzad will consult with a specialist in Australia to determine the best course of action for his rehabilitation. Once the specialist provides a management protocol, Shahzad will return to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for further treatment and recovery.

Shahzad’s absence adds to Pakistan‘s injury concerns, as they are already without the services of Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed due to their respective injuries. The team will have to regroup and reconsider their bowling options for the upcoming Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.

This setback for Pakistan comes at a crucial juncture in the series, as they look to bounce back from their defeat in the first Test. The team management will have to quickly adapt their plans and strategies to cope with the absence of Shahzad and other injured players as they aim to put up a stronger performance in the remaining matches against Australia.
