Lord’s to Host First-Ever Women’s Test Match in 2026

The iconic Lords Cricket Ground is on its way to script history. The “Home of Cricket” will host its first women’s Test match in the summer 2026, with England women facing India women. The England Cricket Board announced this while announcing the schedule. The venue witnessed a number of white ball matches, and now all set to see the first-ever women’s Test match. India Women and England Women will face each other in this iconic match.

Lords Cricket Ground’s Upcoming Milestone:

The Lord’s Cricket Ground is an iconic ground and witnessed some iconic Test matches. Now the prestigious ground is all set to script another milestone. Since women’s cricket began in 1936, Lord’s has never hosted a Test match. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced in their 2025 international schedule that Lord’s will finally welcome a women’s Test match. This historic event will occur during India’s tour of England in March 2026.

While Lord’s has held various women’s white-ball matches recently, including The Hundred, it has yet to host a red-ball fixture. The ECB’s new schedule highlights this milestone as part of their plans for the 2025 home season, marking a significant moment in the ground’s history.

ECB’s Statement and Richard Gould’s Words:

While announcing the news, the cricket board gave an official statement. In the statement, they said, “It has also been confirmed that India Women will return in 2026 for a one-off Test match at Lord’s – the first-ever Women’s Test to be staged at the Home of Cricket. England Women have played white-ball matches at Lord’s for the past three years, with another scheduled next year, but it will be the first time the ground has hosted a Women’s Test match.”

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed the 2025 home season schedule, announcing that Lord’s will host its first women’s Test match. ECB CEO Richard Gould confirmed this historic event, calling it an incredible milestone for the iconic ground.

Richard said, “I’m delighted we can confirm that India Women will take on England Women in the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s. It will be a truly special occasion, and one of real significance for the game,”

India Women’s Tour of England:

Fans can look forward to exciting matches between India Women and England Women. Before their historic Test in 2026, the India women’s team will visit England in 2025 for a white-ball series. They will play five T20 Internationals starting on June 28 in Nottingham, with the final T20I scheduled for July 12. Following the T20s, they will compete in a three-match ODI series, beginning on July 16 and concluding on July 22.
