IPL Season 17 To Start March 22 in Chennai, Partial Schedule To Be Announced

Cricket fans rejoice! The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin on March 22nd, marking the return of the thrilling T20 extravaganza. As per Cricbuzz reports, Chennai, the defending champions, will have the honour of hosting the inaugural ceremony and the opening match.

Partial Schedule and Opponent Wait Continues: While the excitement builds, the identity of the opponent for the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match remains under wraps. IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal confirmed the March 22nd kickoff date and the planned opening ceremony but clarified that the first match opponent is yet to be finalized. Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the Chennai Super Kings, echoed this sentiment, stating they have no information on the opponent as of now.

Fans to Get a Glimpse Soon

To tide over the anticipation, the IPL will be releasing a partial schedule in the coming days, covering the first 10-12 days of the tournament. This will offer fans a peek into the initial matchups and allow them to start planning their viewing schedules.

The full IPL schedule is contingent on the announcement of the General Election dates by the Election Commission of India, expected between the second and third week of March. Dhumal, however, expressed confidence that the league can be held within the country and hinted at the possibility of involving more than the usual 10 venues to accommodate any schedule adjustments necessitated by the elections.

Mark your calendars, cricket enthusiasts! The IPL is set to culminate in a grand finale on May 26th, bringing another season of nail-biting matches and electrifying performances to a close.
