Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing?

Yuzvendra Chahal has been left out of PBKS for their last league match against DC at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Though the skipper, Shreyas Iyer, did not mention a reason, it could be due to an unknown injury. The leg-spinner has been replaced by Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

Chahal’s inconsistent form can also be the reason behind his exclusion. However, he has won PBKS games where he has found his rhythm. So, his exclusion is most likely because of an injury.

Captain Shreyas Iyer said during the toss, “Defintely happy faces. I am not satisfied and content. We want to build momentum from here. Each and every individual is performing for the team. Job half done as of now. Important to stay in the present and seize every possible chance. Inglis and Stoinis come back into the side.”

Impact of Chahal’s Absence

Yuzvendra Chahal’s absence could prove to be a big loss for Punjab Kings, as he has a lot of experience of bowling in Jaipur. As he was a part of the Rajasthan Royals in the previous season, he is quite familiar with the pitch.

The legspinner has 14 wickets from 12 matches this season, with his best bowling performance of 4/28.
