Delhi Capitals’ (DC) skipper, Axar Patel, is sitting out for their clash against the Punjab Kings. Keep reading to find out why Axar Patel is not in DC’s is absent from today’s match.
DC’s all-round skipper missed out on their fixture against the Mumbai Indians due to a bad flu. It seems like he has not recovered yet and is missing their last league match of the IPL 2025 season.
DC’s Assistant coach, Matthew Mott, gave an update on Axar’s health on their training day. Mott revealed, “Honestly, I’m not entirely sure if he’ll play. He skipped training today and has been battling illness and minor injuries lately,” Mott said as quoted by ANI.
“We’ll assess his condition after consulting the medical team tonight. Knowing Axar’s dedication, he’ll want to lead the side, but his fitness will decide,” Mott added.
Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has had a brilliant season this IPL. He has led the team and proved his worth with both bat and ball. He has scored 263 runs in 12 matches, averaging 26.30 with a strike rate of 157.48. He also took 5 wickets at an economy of 8.47.
Axar missed the side’s 59-run loss to Mumbai Indians, which ended DC’s hopes of making the top four.
PBKS and DC have played 34 IPL matches against each other so far. Punjab have won 17 and Delhi 16. One match produced no results, and that match happened this season.
