India’s versatile all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, is facing an injury setback that will temporarily sideline him from the World Cup 2023. The injury occurred during a league game against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. Pandya’s right ankle twisted as he attempted to stop a drive from Bangladesh’s Liton Das.

A physiotherapist was swiftly on the scene, and Pandya’s ankle was strapped, indicating the immediate discomfort he experienced. Play was halted for nearly five minutes as the physio attended to him. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma assured fans that the injury was not a major concern at the post-match presentation ceremony following the win over Bangladesh.

Specialized Treatment Plan

Hardik Pandya‘s injury prompted the Indian medical team to assess his condition thoroughly. It has been determined that Pandya will be transferred to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he will receive specialized treatment from an expert doctor from England.

The medical team consulted with the specialist in England, and both parties concur that administering injections is a suitable course of action to address the injury.

SubheadGame Absence and Hopes for Return

As a consequence of this injury, Hardik Pandya will not be available for India’s next match against New Zealand scheduled to take place in Dharamsala on October 22. However, there is a positive outlook regarding his recovery. The BCCI is optimistic that Pandya will make a swift recovery and anticipates his availability for the game against England. A BCCI official explained, “He will be missing the next game,” while providing assurances that Pandya’s condition is likely to improve with the specialized treatment.

Hardik Pandya’s absence in the playing XI will be felt by the Indian team. His unique skill set, including his ability to handle challenging bouncers, deliver surprise heavy balls, and clear the ropes, makes him a vital component of the squad’s balance. Pandya’s return to full fitness will be eagerly anticipated by both the team and fans, as he plays a crucial role in India’s campaign in the World Cup 2023.
