Durham Signs English Wicketkeeper-Batter Bess Heath on a Three-Year Deal

Durham welcomes a new wicketkeeper batter for the upcoming season. Bess Heath, England’s promising wicketkeeper-batter, has joined Durham on a three-year contract. His addition provides Durham with a valuable asset for the upcoming season, strengthening their squad with his skills behind the stumps and with the bat.

Bess Heath’s Durham Stint:

Bess Heath, England’s emerging wicketkeeper-batter, has signed a three-year contract with Durham, becoming a key player for the Tier 1 team. Heath has accumulated over 3,000 runs across all formats since her professional debut. She made her England debut against Sri Lanka last year and has since earned five international caps.

Starting in Derbyshire’s youth system, Heath has also played for Brisbane Heat, Northern Superchargers, Melbourne Stars, and Yorkshire. She scored 286 runs in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, earning a nomination for the PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

Bess Heath is all excited about her new sting with Durham. It will be a new start to her career. While talking about this, Heath said, “I am so excited to be joining Durham from next season and get going in the North East. 

Later she added, “The opportunity to join Durham is something I am very much looking forward to and hopefully, I can play my part in creating new history for Durham.”

Marcus North’s Words:

Director of Cricket of the team, Marcus North also shared his view on this new recruitment. He said, “Bess is one of the most exciting young talents in England, and we are thrilled to have recruited her to Durham on a long-term contract.”

Later he added, “Despite being only 22, she already has a tremendous amount of experience in the domestic game and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive at Durham as she looks to add more England caps.”

David Ripley’s Stint as Head Coach: 

David Ripley has been named Head Coach of Northamptonshire Women for their inaugural Tier 2 season next year. He will start the role in February 2025. The upcoming Tier 2 season will include teams like Derbyshire, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Kent, Leicestershire, Middlesex, Sussex, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire.

While talking about this, Ripley said, “I’m delighted to be joining the Women’s Steelbacks as Head Coach, it’s exciting times ahead as the new format is rolled out,” Ripley said. “As well as a competitive senior team I hope to help develop our younger girls into future professional players, in partnership with our pathway coaches.”
