Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal has requested the BCCI to move the DC vs MI fixture on Wednesday due to a rain threat in Mumbai. He referred to the earlier decision to shift the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match to Lucknow because of bad weather.
Delhi Capitals is set to face Mumbai Indians on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium. Looking at the possibility of a washout or weather interruptions, DC owner Parth Jindal has requested the BCCI to move the match to another city.
If the match happens without any interruptions and MI win, they will secure their place in the top four for the playoffs. However, if DC win the fourth spot will remain empty, with further league matches deciding both teams’ future.
However, if the Mumbai weather comes into play, with the city being issued a yellow alert, a washout cannot be ruled out. If that happens, the teams will split points, taking MI to 15 and DC to 14 ahead of their final fixtures.
With rain threat looming large over DC, ESPNCricinfo has reported that owner Parth Jindal has written to the BCCI.
“The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains, and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out,” he wrote. “Just as the game between RCB vs SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league it is my request that tomorrow’s game also be moved to a different location as we have known for the better part of 6 days that the forecast for 21st in Mumbai is for heavy showers,” an e-mail accessed by the website states.
