The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the schedule for the highly anticipated ODI World Cup 2023, set to take place in India. As the first 50-over World Cup to be exclusively hosted in India, the anticipation among cricket enthusiasts is palpable, with fans hoping that the Indian team can break their streak of disappointment in ICC knockouts. Powerhouses like Australia and England, who boast strong support during their visits to India, are also considered strong contenders to lift the trophy in the 10-nation tournament. 

The upcoming matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium have generated tremendous buzz, resulting in a thriving hotel industry in Ahmedabad. With the stadium set to host several high-profile matches, including the tournament opener and the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on October 15, hotels in the city are experiencing a surge in bookings. Another marquee encounter between arch-rivals Australia and England is scheduled for November 4, while the final of the tournament will also be held at the same venue. 

Hotel Prices in Ahmedabad Rise 

Industry insiders have reported that base category rooms at five-star hotels are being snapped up at rates of Rs 50,000 per night, significantly higher than their usual tariffs of Rs 6,500-10,500. Hoteliers have already witnessed strong demand for bookings during the October 13-16 period, and expect most rooms in the city to be sold out on match days. 

The excitement surrounding the World Cup has attracted not only Indian fans but also international cricket groups, fans, and sponsors, all eager to secure accommodations during the prestigious event. Major corporations and travel agencies from England have already made bookings for the opening ceremony and the first match, further driving up the demand. 

According to reports, around 80% of rooms for match days have been sold, with base category rooms commanding rates of approximately Rs 52,000, while premium category rooms are being booked for Rs 1 lakh and above. Hotels are reporting occupancy rates of 60-90% for match dates, with expectations of several sold-out days during the tournament.
