Rajat Patidar and Pat Cummins were heavily fined after RCB and SRH both were found in breach of IPL Code of Conduct. Both franchises maintained a slow-over rate during their clash on Friday.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad were both found guilty by the BCCI of breaching Indian Premier League’s Code of Conduct. The match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow turned out to be hefty for both teams’ skippers.
The RCB skipper Rajat Patidar was fined for a slow over rate. This was the team’s second offence of the 2025 season. Patidar has been fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the playing XI, including the impact player have also been fined individually. Their penalty was either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.
Notably, Patidar played the match as an Impact player, while Jitesh Sharma led the team. However, Patidar was fined as he is the full-time captain.
On the other hand, SRH captain Pat Cummins has also been fined. His team was also found guilty of maintaining a slow over rate. He was fined INR 12 lakhs.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined INR 12 Lakh,” an official BCCI media release stated.
RCB hit a major snag on their way to the top-two on Friday, as they lost against SRH by 42 runs. Despite a good start with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt’s 80 runs partnership, the Jitesh Sharma-led team failed to chase the total of 232.
RCB slipped down to the third spot in the points table. They have 17 points from 13 matches. The team will play its final league game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27. They need to win the final game to have a chance of making it to the top-two.
