Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has expressed his desire to play for India in all formats. He also opened up about how he developed his game and who helped him with his spin game.
Raghuvanshi represented India at the Under-19 World Cup in 2022. There, he was the highest run-getter with 278 runs from 6 innings. He made his debut for Kolkata in 2024 and was again picked by the franchise for 2025 for INR 30 lakh.
The 20-year-old said that he wants to become an all-format player for India. “I want to play all formats of the game, including Test cricket,” Angkrish Raghuvanshi said as quoted from Wisden.
He also addressed the challenges of playing in the IPL, saying that the bowlers turn the ball more. As a result, he had to train intensely to be better. He pushed his fitness levels and even sprinted up 30 flights of stairs.
“People bowl faster here in the IPL, turn the ball more. It’s just tougher all around here, so I had to practice harder to make my game better,” he reflects on the switch from age-group and domestic cricket to the big leagues.
“It’s more about playing as much cricket as you can, and gaining experience,” he says. “You understand yourself better, and you understand how you can adapt across formats. It’s simple: Play as many matches, but more than that, I practice as much as I can.”
Raghuvanshi credited the Mumbai pitches and batting alongside Suryakumar Yadav for his spin game.
“Playing on the pitches in Mumbai has helped me develop my game against spin, because the ball turns a lot on some pitches in Mumbai. I like to learn from Suryakumar Yadav on how to play spin. I try to watch him bat and what he tries to do against spinners. He plays the field and the bowlers, and I like watching and learning from that.”
