On August 18, 2023, cricketing icon Virat Kohli completed an impressive milestone, marking 15 years since his debut in international cricket. Kohli’s illustrious journey has been celebrated by fans worldwide, and a unique tribute has emerged from a Surat-based businessman – a diamond-studded bat that is set to grace Kohli’s hands just ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence in India on October 5.
The bat, crafted from an original rough diamond measuring 15 mm x 5 mm and weighing 1.04 carats, has a reported worth of INR 10 lakh. A labour of love that took a month to create, the diamond bat is the brainchild of an ardent follower of Kohli’s career, who meticulously preserved the natural skin of the rough diamond during the crafting process.
Utpal Mistry, a Diamond Technology expert and Director of Lexus Softmac Company in Surat, oversaw the creation of this unique masterpiece. He explained the inspiration behind the creation, stating that it was essential for the bat to be adorned with a natural diamond rather than a lab-grown one, symbolizing the genuine journey of a top Indian cricketer like Virat Kohli.
As Kohli’s cricketing voyage continues to inspire millions, his focus now shifts to the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, commencing on August 30. The 34-year-old batter, who stood as the second-highest run-scorer in the previous edition of the continental cup in 2022, remains a vital cog in India’s cricketing machinery. His impressive track record also includes notching up his 71st international hundred during the 2022 Asia Cup against Afghanistan.
The cricketing world now waits in anticipation to see Kohli’s impact in the 16th year of his international cricketing career. With the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup on the horizon, Kohli’s drive to lead India to victory remains undiminished. As he steps up to the crease with the unique diamond bat in hand, cricket enthusiasts can’t help but wonder about the feats and records that the “Run Machine” will script in the coming months.
