3 Players DC might release before 2024 IPL Auction

The Delhi Capitals (DC) faced a challenging start to the IPL 2023 season, losing their first five matches consecutively. While they managed to bounce back with four wins in their next five games, there were several players who failed to deliver consistent performances. 1. Prithvi Shaw:

One of the biggest disappointments for DC this season has been Prithvi Shaw. After an impressive domestic season and a recall to the Indian T20I squad, Shaw was expected to make a significant impact in the absence of Rishabh Pant. However, he struggled to find his form and was eventually dropped from the team. With just 47 runs from six matches, Shaw’s inconsistent performances have been a concern for the team. 2. Sarfaraz Khan:

Sarfaraz Khan was thrust into the spotlight as a potential replacement for Rishabh Pant, following a car accident that ruled Pant out of the IPL 2023 season. Although Sarfaraz had some experience behind the stumps, his performances with both bat and gloves were underwhelming. He managed only 53 runs in four games and his glovework did not inspire confidence. As a result, he was dropped from the team. While Sarfaraz may still have opportunities as an impact substitute, it seems unlikely that he will continue with the Delhi Capitals next season.

3. Rovman Powell:

Rovman Powell’s impressive performances in IPL 2022, where he scored 250 runs at a strike rate of nearly 150, raised hopes of him becoming a reliable finisher for the Delhi Capitals. Additionally, his captaincy stint with the West Indies T20I team further added to his value. However, the IPL 2023 season has been a disappointment for Powell. With just seven runs in three games, his weakness against wrist spin was exposed, leading to his exclusion from the team. The DC management appears to have lost faith in his abilities. Considering his lackluster performances, Powell may not be retained for the next season.

By releasing these underperforming players, the Delhi Capitals can create room for fresh talent and address their weaknesses in the upcoming IPL 2024 auction.
