Three England cricketers—Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Jamie Overton—will not play in the remaining matches of IPL 2025. Their teams, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), have confirmed their exit.
Jofra Archer will miss the rest of the season because of an injury. He was playing for Rajasthan Royals. A team official said Archer is recovering and they want to protect his fitness.
“He is injured, and we are focusing on his recovery,” the official said.
Chennai Super Kings confirmed that Sam Curran and Jamie Overton have also left the team. CSK will not bring in replacements. Since CSK is already out of the playoffs, they are ending the season with their current squad.
Some England players are staying in India to finish the season because their teams are still in the race for the playoffs. These players include:
They will return to India by May 14 and are expected to join their teams soon. Buttler will arrive by Wednesday night, and Jacks will likely attend practice on Thursday.
RCB’s Phil Salt, who is in great form, has not confirmed if he will return. KKR’s Moeen Ali is also unsure. His father said they will decide in the next 24 hours.
A senior official from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said players could choose whether to return or stay out. Franchises have confirmed these decisions based on fitness and team status.
The IPL will resume on May 17 after a short break. The playoffs will start on May 29, and the final will take place on June 3. The presence of key foreign players could make a big difference in the final matches of the season.
