RCB star pacer Josh Hazlewood has returned to India and rejoined the franchise ahead of the upcoming playoffs. He joined the squad in Lucknow on Sunday morning.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received a major boost with their pacer returning to join the squad. This is good news for RCB ahead of their final league game and then the playoffs.
Earlier, many reports had claimed that the Australian pacer would not return to India. The reports stated that he wants to prepare for the upcoming World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa.
Hazlewood was also healing from a shoulder injury, due to which he had missed RCB’s match against CSK before the IPL suspension.
However, snubbing these reports, Hazlewood has finally joined the squad to increase RCB’s chances of winning their first title.
RCB’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle shared a picture of Hazlewood landing in Lucknow, with the caption, “He’s here. Welcome back, Josh Reginald Hazlewood!”
“Yeah, obviously, it’s great to be back. Made the most of the last week in Brisbane and bowled quite a few overs. Everything is feeling very good. Hopefully, will get the ball rolling. Looking forward to practice,” said Hazlewood in a video posted on social media handles of RCB.
Hazlewood has emerged as the leading bowler for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru this season. He remains the fourth highest wicket-taker with 18 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 17.27.
Lungi Ngidi had filled in for Hazlewood but was unable to be as effective as the Australian pacer. However, now that Hazlewood is back, he will try to help get RCB their maiden title win.
RCB need to win their last match against Lucknow Super Giants to have any chance of making it to the top two. However, RCB also need one between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings to slip up.
