In a surprising move during the second ODI between India and Australia, David Warner switched from his usual left-handed batting to right-handed to counter Ravichandran Ashwin’s off-spin. However, Ashwin eventually managed to dismiss right-handed Warner as he got him out LBW. This switch happened in the 13th over of the second innings. Warner scored six runs off Ashwin’s bowling as a right-handed batsman but later switched back to his left-handed stance to face Ravindra Jadeja’s left-arm spin. Unfortunately for Warner, he couldn’t sustain this tactic and got out on 53 off 39 balls.
In the second ODI between India and Australia in Indore, India delivered a spectacular batting performance, amassing a total of 399 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill played pivotal roles in this formidable innings.
The second-wicket partnership between Iyer and Gill was particularly remarkable, as they put together a massive 200-run stand in just 164 balls. Their dominance was evident from the outset, with both batsmen displaying aggressive strokes and quick running between the wickets. Gill, in particular, was dominant against the Australian bowlers, especially against spin, as he consistently found gaps and boundaries.
KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan provided the finishing touches with brisk contributions, ensuring that India posted a daunting target for Australia. In total, India struck 31 fours and 18 sixes during their innings, showcasing their aggressive intent.
Iyer’s century, his third in ODIs, was a standout moment as the crowd celebrated his achievement. Despite a slight hiccup due to humidity, both Iyer and Gill managed to reach their respective centuries before being dismissed.
Suryakumar Yadav, despite a slow start, exploded with an astonishing display of power hitting, smashing four consecutive sixes off Cameron Green’s over. His unbeaten 72 off just 37 balls was a crucial contribution in the late stages of the innings.
Australia’s bowling unit had a challenging day on a batting-friendly pitch, with debutant Spencer Johnson and others conceding significant runs. Despite their efforts, India concluded their innings at 399, leaving Australia with a daunting target of 400 runs.
In summary, India’s innings in this ODI showcased their batting prowess, with notable performances from Iyer, Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav. Their aggressive approach and ability to find boundaries ensured a formidable total for Australia to chase.
