India’s Champions Trophy campaign so far has been extremely successful with just the final match left against New Zealand. India will take on New Zealand in Abu Dhabi on March 9, Sunday in the Champions Trophy final 2025 after winning all their matches in the tournament. Shreyas Iyer has been one of the consistent star performers for India in the campaign till now and as a result, the BCCI reportedly is set to reward him.

Shreyas Iyer to be rewarded

According to a Times of India report, Shreyas Iyer is set to regain the BCCI central contract after his excellent performance in the ongoing Champions Trophy. The BCCI kept Shreyas out of the same in the last term for disciplinary issues. Ishan Kishan was another player who lost his central contract in last term. However, Ishan Kishan has not played any international cricket since then. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has proved his mettle time to time in this period whenever the team needed him. He has scored 195 runs from four games at an average of 48.75 including two half-centuries. He has been great support in the fielding also.  Reportedly, all his efforts are going to be rewarded by the Indian cricket board.

Contracts to be evaluated

The BCCI generally announces the player names before the IPL begins. This time after not so good performances in Test cricket in past few months, the BCCI kept an eye on the Champions Trophy 2025.

Currently four players who earn A+ central contracts by the BCCI are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah. As per the reports published by the Times of India is going to re-evaluate these contracts, especially with the trio of Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja retiring from T20I cricket after the T20 World Cup 2024. However, if India win the Champions Trophy they all might end up retaining the A+ contracts. Moreover, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are also likely to be promoted to the Grade A category
