India‘s impressive victory over England in the second Test of the ongoing series has propelled them to the second spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table. Led by captain Rohit Sharma, India showcased a dominant performance against England in Visakhapatnam, securing a convincing 106-run win. This victory has significantly improved India’s standing in the WTC rankings, positioning them just behind the current leaders, Australia.

England, on the other hand, faced a setback in the WTC rankings following their defeat to India. The English team, led by Ben Stokes, now finds themselves in the fourth spot, highlighting the impact of their loss in the series.

The WTC Points Table currently sees defending champions Australia occupying the top position. However, with three more matches remaining in the series against England, India has a golden opportunity to surpass Australia and claim the top spot. The Indian team’s exceptional performance in the recent match, with standout performances from young batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, has boosted their chances of achieving this feat.

In the second Test, India’s bowling unit, led by Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah, delivered stellar performances. Ashwin and Bumrah both claimed three wickets each, playing crucial roles in India’s victory. Bumrah’s remarkable spell of 6-45 in the first innings and his overall match figures of 9-91 were instrumental in India’s triumph. Ashwin, with his consistent performance, is now just one wicket away from reaching the milestone of 500 Test scalps.

India’s comprehensive victory in Visakhapatnam was a result of a collective effort, with contributions from multiple players. Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar also made valuable contributions with the ball, ensuring India’s victory and leveling the series 1-1.

The next match of the series is scheduled to take place at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot on February 15. As India prepares for the upcoming matches, their recent performance has undoubtedly boosted their confidence, setting the stage for an exciting battle for the top position in the WTC Points Table.

Brief scores: India 396 and 255 beat England 253 and 292 in 69.2 overs (Zak Crawley 73, Tom Hartley 36; Jasprit Bumrah 3-46, Ravichandran Ashwin 3-72) by 106 runs
