World Cup 2019: India’s World Cup Squad to be announced on April 15

Even though the Indian Premier League is hogging all the limelight at the moment, at the back of the mind, everyone is keeping an eye on the World Cup 2019 probables. From the T20 league, there are several speculations being made about who can make the cut for the Indian squad for the mega event.

April 23 is the deadline for all the teams to declare their 15-man squad. As of today, only New Zealand has announced its World Cup. As per reports, the Indian squad is set to be announced on April 15. Hindustan Times reported that BCCI will name the squad one week from now.

India’s recent loss to Australia in the ODI series had left several questions unanswered. Some disappointing performance in the IPL by the regulars like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ambati Rayudu have aggravated the issues.

However, the selectors as well the team management believed that the team is settled and there is no need to panic. Most of the slots have already been decided. There could be a selection for only a couple of places. The vice-captain of India, Rohit Sharma recently said that the squad is pretty much settled.

“I think we are pretty much settled. There are a few spots (undecided) which everyone knows about but again that depends on what the captain and the coach and the selectors think whether they want to go for the extra seamer or the extra spinner or extra middle order player or a reserve opener,” said Rohit Sharma.

“It also depends upon the conditions. The last time we were in England, the conditions were quite dry. I don’t know how things will be. So if it is like that then you take an extra spinner, as simple as that. If it’s not then probably take the extra seamer,” added the Indian opener.
