Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma visited the famous Tirumala Tirupati temple on Tuesday. They were accompanied by RCB Women’s team spinner Shreyanka Patil. The trio offered prayers at the sacred site. The Bengaluru-based franchise geared up for a high-stakes clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
RCB are currently enjoying a five-day break after their win over Delhi Capitals. They made the most of their downtime by seeking divine blessings. The players’ visit to Tirupati reflects a moment of spiritual rejuvenation amid a busy tournament schedule.
Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma appeared in high spirits during the darshan. On the other hand, Shreyanka Patil’s presence alongside the men’s squad highlighted the strong camaraderie between RCB’s men’s and women’s teams.
RCB are in red-hot form this season. They sit at the top of the IPL 2025 points table. The team has seven wins from 10 matches and boast a net run rate of +0.521. They defeated Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27. RCB became the first team in IPL history to register six consecutive away wins in a single season.
This dominant run underlines the team’s consistency and depth in all departments. Both batting and bowling units clicking at the right time. RCB now hope to carry that momentum into their upcoming fixture at home.
The focus now shifts to Saturday, May 3, when RCB host CSK in the second chapter of the Southern Derby at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The two teams last met at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where RCB scripted a dominant 50-run victory—marking their first win at the venue since the inaugural IPL season in 2008.
In that encounter, RCB posted 196/7 after being asked to bat. Rajat Patidar led the charge with a 32-ball 51, while opener Phil Salt contributed a brisk 32 off 16 deliveries. The bowlers backed up the effort with a disciplined performance, restricting CSK to 146/8. Josh Hazlewood emerged as the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets for just 21 runs in his four-over spell.
Despite their dominance on the road, RCB have struggled to replicate that success at home, registering only one win at the Chinnaswamy this season. As they prepare to face a resilient CSK unit, the team will aim to improve their home record and strengthen their grip on the top spot.
The Southern Derby promises to be a thrilling contest, with both sides eyeing crucial points in the playoff race. With the crowd expected to pack the Chinnaswamy stands, RCB will count on the home support—and the blessings from Tirupati—as they aim for another statement win.
