India is set to tour Bangladesh in August 2025 for a six-match series comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. This tour marks India’s first-ever bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh and also serves as a crucial preparatory event for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, which India will host. The series will feature matches in both Dhaka and Chattogram, offering an exciting clash between two of the most competitive teams in world cricket.
Date | Match |
---|---|
August 17 | 1st ODI |
August 20 | 2nd ODI |
August 23 | 3rd ODI |
August 26 | 1st T20I |
August 29 | 2nd T20I |
August 31 | 3rd T20I |
This series will be India’s first white-ball-only tour of Bangladesh since 2014, when they last visited the country for a series of three ODIs. Notably, this will be India’s first-ever bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh, marking a historic moment for both teams and their supporters.
India has often visited Bangladesh during the off-season, with the last notable tour occurring in June 2014. Since then, international cricket in Bangladesh during the off-season months of August has been rare, making this series even more special. Bangladesh has hosted international matches during this period only a few times, including the 2017 Test against Australia and the five-match T20I series against the same opposition in 2021.
The tour is of paramount importance for India as it provides an opportunity to fine-tune their squad in preparation for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, where they are the host nation. This will be the final series before the Asia Cup, allowing India to test their lineup and strategies ahead of the prestigious tournament. On the other hand, Bangladesh will look to strengthen their team dynamics and build momentum before their own upcoming international assignments.
BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury expressed his enthusiasm for the series, describing it as one of the most anticipated events in the calendar. He emphasized the significance of India’s presence, stating, “India has set the benchmark in international cricket across all formats, and the cricket-loving millions in both countries are sure to enjoy this contest. Bangladesh and India have played some very competitive matches in recent years, and I am confident that this will be another hard-fought and entertaining series.”
This series is expected to deliver exciting and competitive cricket, with both teams featuring some of the best white-ball cricketers in the world. The clash between India’s powerful batting lineup and Bangladesh’s spirited attack will be a key highlight. Moreover, with the T20 Asia Cup looming, both teams will be keen on experimenting with strategies and players, providing an intriguing build-up to the continental tournament.
India’s tour of Bangladesh in August 2025 promises to be an action-packed and highly anticipated series. The combination of ODI and T20I formats will test the skills and adaptability of both teams. Fans from both nations will be eagerly awaiting the matches, which are sure to deliver memorable moments as India and Bangladesh continue their fierce rivalry on the cricket field.
