Australian player Josh Hazelwood is going to miss the rest of the Test series against India with a calf strain. This has opened the door for Scott Boland’s comeback in the team.
Josh Hazlewood is likely to miss the remaining Tests series against. He has suffered from the calf strain during warm-ups on Day 4 of the ongoing match at the Gabba. Hazelwood has bowled just one over and he left the field as he was not comfortable after the consultation with the team’s physio and captain Pat Cummins.
Australia has confirmed that Hazelwood’s cans have revealed a right calf strain and he has been ruled out of the series. Scott Boland had the chance of coming back in the squad for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. He famously took 6 for 7 on his debut against England in 2021-22 on the same ground.
Hazelwood has not for the first time dealt with injuries. Earlier this year, he was forced to miss T20I matches due to similar calf strain against Scotland and England.
Despite his strong preparations and recent Shield game appearances, Hazelwood has now missed 18 out of 35 Australian matches since the 2021-2022 Ashes series due to fitness Issues.

The Australian medical team has been working to find long-term solutions for Hazelwood. But his frequent injuries remained a concern. His absence has added pressure on Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon to Lead Australia’s bowling attack.
Due to Hazlewood’s ruled out,Scott Boland had the opportunity to replace him. Boland had a stellar record at the MCG and he was also prepared for a potential role. Pat Cummins has hinted at his comeback before the series. Australia will hope Boland can deliver his trademark delivery to maintain their dominance over India.
Boland’s inclusion would also help Pat Cummins and Starc to manage the workload. Both of them have bowled extensively in the series. Especially with rain interruption and Brisbane’s unpredictable scenarios.
