Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, shone with the bat during the 2023 World Cup match against India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, October 14.

The right-handed batsman achieved a half-century, scoring 50 runs from 58 balls, which included seven boundaries. Azam played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s recovery from a precarious position of 73/2 by forming an essential 82-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket.

This 28-year-old cricketer’s performance marked his return to form after relatively lower scores of just five and 10 runs in previous matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka during the prestigious ICC tournament.

Despite Azam’s strong showing with the bat, he was dismissed against the run of play during the 30th over. Mohammed Siraj delivered a well-pitched delivery angled in, and Azam attempted to guide it towards the third man. However, the ball unexpectedly skidded through, striking the top of off-stump.
