Zimbabwe to Host Second Edition of Zim Afro T10 League

In 2023, Zimbabwe became the first ICC full-member country to organize a T10 league, named the Zim Afro T10 League. The success of the inaugural edition has paved the way for the second edition, set to take place in Zimbabwe later this year.

Zimbabwe Cricket has officially announced the dates for the tournament, which will commence on September 21 and conclude with the final match on September 29. All matches will be held at the Harare Sports Club, a venue that debuted floodlit matches during the first edition.

Anticipation Builds for the Second Edition

Speaking ahead of the second edition, Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Mr. Tavengwa Mukuhlani expressed his excitement, stating, “We are delighted to restart the Zim Afro T10 tournament.” He further emphasized the cultural and sporting significance of the event, adding, “The first edition was more of a festival than just a sporting event for us, and we expect even more this year. The T10 league has helped our white-ball game, and I am sure it will have a significant and positive impact on our ecosystem.”

Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk, founder and chairman of T10 Global Sports, echoed these sentiments, saying, “We can’t wait to start the second edition of the T10 league in Zimbabwe. After a fantastic first edition, it is our duty to ensure the highest standards for the second edition so that fans get what they deserve, and both the country’s cricket and the Zim Afro T10 benefit.”

The first edition of the Zim Afro T10 League saw participation from notable international players, including Bangladeshi stars Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed. Mushfiq represented the Joburg Buffaloes, while Taskin played for the Bulawayo Braves.
