Zaheer Says, India’s Match Against New Zealand Is a Do or Die Game

As Pakistan have won two of the their matches so far and India have yet to manage a win, the Sunday’s game between India and New Zealand will be a do or die game for Indian National Cricket Team. Even Zaheer Khan, former India cricketer mentioned about it. He also told why New Zealand should not be taking lightly.

If India manage to beat New Zealand and then went on to win matches against Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia they will have 8 points. But New Zealand in the case will have 6 points. Pakistan have 4 points already after claiming two wins against India and New Zealand. Assuming they would beat Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia as well. Then India and Pakistan will be the two team to proceed to next level from Group 2. If India fail to win their second match against New Zealand, the Kiwis will hopefully beat Afghanistan, Scotland, and Namibia and will reach the next level along with Pakistan. India then will have to be happy with just 6 points.

Former India cricket Zaheer Khan also explained to Cricbuzz stating, “We all know that if India plays to their potential, no team will find it easy to stand against. It is always important for a side to catch up with the winning momentum at the earliest, especially in the World Cup. This time India have lost their first match and should make sure it isn’t too late. The next game against New Zealand is a do or die one.”

He also opined why it will not be an easy task for India to beat the Kiwis. “One thing is sure is that New Zealand wants to win every match and have great enthusiasm. Yes, the Pakistan result didn’t go their way, but the fight that they showed was brilliant. They didn’t score many runs in the first innings, but the effort that they put in the bowling and fielding, states that they never ever lose their hope. And India should be wary about it,” Zaheer told Cricbuzz.
