Rajasthan Royals’ star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal achieved a momentous feat in the ongoing Indian Premier League as he claimed his 300th T20 wicket, becoming the first Indian bowler to achieve this milestone. Chahal’s impressive tally of wickets is a testament to his exceptional skills as a spinner.
Prior to this feat, he was already the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 cricket, and with this achievement, he has further cemented his position as one of India’s greatest T20 bowlers. Not only that Chahal has also set another record in the IPL as he became the highest wicket-taking spinner in the tournament’s history, with an impressive tally of 167 wickets to his name. Cricket pundits and fans alike have lauded Chahal’s impressive feat, and his contribution to Indian cricket has been immense over the years.
The landmark wicket came in the seventh over when Chahal was bowling to Harry Brook. On the final delivery of the over, Chahal bowled a quicker and flatter delivery on off, which Brook expected to spin away. However, Chahal had added an extra skid on the ball, and it crashed into the off-stump before Brook could react. This was a scratchy first inning for Brook in the IPL, and he would have been disappointed to get out in such a manner.
Brook attempted to cut the ball, but with limited room, he could not execute the shot as cleanly as he would have liked. As a result, the ball sneaked past the outside edge of the bat before crashing into the off-stump, leaving Brook with no chance to recover. The delivery was a masterful display of Chahal’s control and deception as he added extra skid to the ball to outfox Brook, who was struggling for runs throughout his innings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s predicament deepened with the fall of Brook’s wicket, and their chances of posting a competitive total took a significant hit. However, for Chahal, the wicket was a testament to his skills as a bowler, and it took him one step closer to cementing his status as one of India’s greatest T20 bowlers.
