Yuvraj Reminds Shastri Of His And Dhoni’s Presence In World Cup 2011

On Thursday Indian cricket team completes the ninth anniversary of India’s 2011 World Cup win. Ravi Shastri took to the Twitter to congratulate the Indian team on the occasion which led to an interesting conversation between him and Yuvraj Singh.

Shastri recalls India’s victory

Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the current Indian team was in the commentary box in Mumbai during the 2011 World Cup final match between India and Sri Lanka. When Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Indian cricket team lifted an over-boundary to seal the title, Ravi Shastri’s voice was heard, “Dhoni finishes off in style! A magnificent strike into the crowd. India lift the World Cup after 28 years!”

Interestingly now Shastri is the head coach of the Indian cricket team and Virat Kohli is the new skipper for last few years. Shastri while recalling India’s triumph at Wankhede, tweeted the video of Dhoni hitting the six and tagged Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, the members of World Cup-winning cricket team to congratulate for the win. Shastri wrote, “Many Congratulations Guys! Something you will cherish all your life. Just like we from the 1983 group #WorldCup2011 – @sachin_rt @imVkohli”

While Dhoni finished off the tournament on the winning note, Yuvraj Singh had a memorable journey. He was at the non-striker’s end during the final shot and became the Man of the Tournament due to his incredible showcase in the World Cup.
