Yashasvi Jaiswal was absolutely flawless against Mumbai Indians at his usual home ground on the Wankhede Stadium. At the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman for Rajasthan Royals, scored his first hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He was disdainful against any type of bowling. In the second over, the left-hander pulled Jofra Archer for a massive six which was enough to send caution to the MI bowlers. He followed the pull shot with a disdainful yet pleasing cover drive against Riley Meredith where none of the fielders on the ground moved.
When Butler was looking sedate at the other end and was lacking to clear the ropes, Jaiswal stepped on the accelerator and scored some quick runs in the powerplay.
Yashasvi Jaiswal immediately destroyed the Mumbai Indians bowlers by launching boundaries and sixes all over the park. In just 53 deliveries, he reached his hundred. In the end, he was dismissed after making 124 off 62 balls in an innings that featured 16 fours and 8 sixes. With this, he overtakes Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, and Devdutt Padikkal as the fourth youngest batter to score a hundred.
The left-hander, who is 21 years and 123 days old, became the fourth-youngest player to ever register a hundred in the IPL after reaching his century off 53 balls with a four off Riley Meredith. The youngest centurion in the IPL is Manish Pandey (19 years, 253 days), who is followed in age by Rishabh Pant (20 years, 218 days), and Devdutt Padikkal (20 years, 289 days).
Jaiswal also took the IPL Orange Cap from Faf du Plessis, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. In nine innings, with a strike rate of 159.70, he has scored 428 runs. This season, he has also recorded three half-centuries. He also recorded the highest score by an uncapped player in the IPL.

“I think I enjoyed every part of my innings. I was thinking right, planning right and hitting the right shots. I have practised all the shots that I want to play. Every time I hold a bat, be it in the nets or the match, I feel the same way. The things I do in practice will reflect in the game. I have worked a lot on my batting, my skills with Zubin (Bharucha) sir right through the season, white-ball and red-ball. When I got to the hundred, it was an amazing feeling and this is what I wanted. It is really special. I need to enjoy it but I need to look forward and keep going. I never thought about slowing down, I know my role in the team. I need to keep going and make sure run-rate is high and contribute as much as I can in whatever way possible to the team,” Jaiswal said during the innings break.
