WPL 2023: Here Is an Update On Beth Mooney’s injury

Gujarat Giants do not seem to be having a good time as the injury scares for the franchise seem to continue. Giants captain Beth Mooney seems to have injured her ankle, having to leave the field in the very first over. The incident occurred on the third ball she faced when she seemed to have twinged her ankle. Mooney immediately stopped playing and called for the physiotherapist to attend to her.

Concerned for her well-being, Mooney was helped off the ground by the medical staff and taken straight to an ambulance that was waiting nearby. It is believed that she was taken to a hospital for further examination, likely including a scan to assess the extent of the injury.

Even though the severity of the injury is yet to be known, it could be very much possible that Mooney may miss a few games or even the entire season. Her absence could be a major blow to her team, and the cricket community as a whole, as she is an accomplished player and a crucial part of the Gujarat Giants.

Giants were heavily reliant on Mooney, not only for the captaincy of the team but also for scoring the majority of the runs. The Gujarat-based franchise is already struggling with a lack of balance in the squad, and the loss of Mooney may come as a huge blow to them.

Earlier yesterday, Caribbean all-rounder Deandra Dottin had to opt out of the WPL because of some medical reasons. She was also a part of the Gujarat Giants franchise. Giants’ first order of business would probably be to look for a captain from the available players who could manage the squad efficiently and hopefully lead them to the knockouts.
