No wonder, as an avid car lover, Kohli boasts of an envious collection.
Bonding between Kohli and Gayle
Virat Kohli’s love for Audi is well known and the Indian skipper has got RS5, RS6, A8 L, R8 V10 LMX and Q7 from the company. He also had a white Audi R8 which he eventually sold in 2016. But before that Kohli took Chris Gayle on a drive around Delhi on that special car in 2013. Kohli and Gayle were mainstays for Royal Challengers Bangalore for quite a sometime which helped them develop a good rapport. Their off-field chemistry is heart-warming too. They did not just have bhangra sessions post RCB wins or share net during practice, they also used to hang around together a lot. The charming personalities of both seemed to have contributed a lot in their bonding.
Gayle on Kohli’s driving
During the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League, Kohli took out his Audi R8 to give Gayle a long drive in Delhi. From Kohli’s residence to the team hotel, the skipper gave Gayle a memorable ride. After arriving at the team hotel, Gayle said that Kohli does not drive, he flies. “I can’t really use the word on-screen. This is the sh**, you know. This is it”. When asked what he thinks about Kohli’s driving, Gayle said: “Ahh, superb. He turned a badass. He shouldn’t drive, he flies”.
After spending six years with the Bangalore based franchise in the IPL 2018 Auction Gayle got a new team when Kings XI Punjab secured his services. He has since then scored 858 runs with one hundred and seven half-centuries in 24 matches for the Punjab team.
