Let’s see what went wrong for the losing in the third game of the season.

After hitting a massive six, Shubman Gill was gone for just 15 runs off 13 balls in the seventh over of Kolkata Knight Riders innings. However, the other opener Nitish Rana found an able ally in Rahul Tripathi. And that partnership changed the tone of the KKR innings. They added 93 runs for the second wicket and provided the momentum Kolkata Knight Riders needed. Rana scored 80 off 56 balls with nine fours and four sixes whereas 29-ball 53 came from Tripathi including five boundaries and two maximums. It was this partnership at the top that helped KKR set the target of 188 runs for SRH.

IPL 2021: KKR need to worry. Nehra explains why

David Warner

David Warner won the toss and chose to field first. This seemed to have gone wrong against his side. Warner and Wriddhiman Saha were accounted for providing good starts to the Hyderabad time multiple times. However, the pair fell for cheap today. Warner was the first prey of Prasidh Krishna and was dismissed for just three runs in the second over of SRH innings. Saha followed soon in the next over for an individual score of seven runs. Manish Pandey remained unbeaten with 44 runs and Jonny Bairstow tried his bit with 40-ball 55 but they could not recover from the early blows.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders were on the money at the death overs. Already a good spell from Prasidh Krishna, Shakib Al Hasan, and Varun Chakravarthy helped them to push Sunrisers Hyderabad behind the required run rate. Warner-led side needed 57 runs off last 24 deliveries. Chakravarthy bowled a tight 17th over and despite a six in the last ball was able to push the required rate further. Andre Russell also bowled two tight overs conceding only 17 runs and picked up the wicket of Vijay Shankar. Abdul Samad hit a couple of sixes off Pat Cummins but by that time the fate was decided.
