India’s win over Scotland made Indian fans more hopeful about India’s chances of qualifying to the knockouts to the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. India still have the chances despite losing their first two matches but for that, they need more than winning remaining match.
India need Afghanistan to beat New Zealand because a win for New Zealand in the match means exit for India and Afghanistan. India’s thumping wins in last two games including today’s match against Scotland improved their Net Run Rate and they moved to the third place of the points table. India are expected to win their last match against Namibia on Monday but Sunday’s match between Afghanistan and New Zealand will be important for men in blue.
India beat Scotland today after completing the target of mere 86 runs in the 7th over. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma looked in good shape as the former contributed to the win with a 18-ball half-century. On the other hand, Jadeja took three wickets for 15 runs as Mohammed Shami also claimed three wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja, after the win was asked about the same in the post-match media interaction today. He asked the journalist to repeat the question first and then gave a cheeky reply.
The question was, “There are talks going around that if New Zealand lost to Afghanistan, our chances brighten. But what if New Zealand don’t lose to Afghanistan?” Jadeja replied, ” Toh phir… bag pack karke ghar Jayenge, aur kya? (What else? Pack our bags and head home).
